Building Virtual Worlds

Working in 5-student teams as an artist accomplished 5 rounds original games in 2 weeks. Involved in designing mechanics for different games, mapping user journeys for naive guests, creating 3D and 2D assets including environments, characters and animations to tell compelling game stories.
Platform: Leap Motion + Oculus, HTC Vive, Eye-tracker, Kinect, Cave, Makey-Makey
Software: Maya (3D model, rigging, animation), Unity, Photoshop, Sketch (2D illustrate), Premiere (video)

[ Leap Motion + Oculus ] Duck Partay

Team Role: 3D Artist

Creating Assets: Bathroom environment,  3 stages of Ducks and sharks (models, textures and animations), Duck party animations, other decorations for theming

The guests need to help the poor rubber duck go back to the duck partay! We use leap motion to recognize hands gesture so that the guests can help the duck navigate in the water and protect it by hitting the sharks. The animation feebacks from the duck will also help the guests going through the games.

[ HTC VIVE ] Doors

Team Role: 3D Artist

Creating Assets: Room environment,  Panels (models, textures and animations)

The guest is a security guard working in a biochemistry company. One day, one of the creature breaks out and all he can do is to distract it with people in other room to stall enough time for the rescue. We want to play the morality dilemma in this game and see if the guest will choose to sacrifice others or if they will build the bond through the video they saw. Using indirect control we give the guests freedom to explore but also a clear flow to follow.




[ EYE-GAZER ] Save or Sushi

Team Role:  Artist

Creating Assets: Emoji of Cat! Turtle! Panda! Lots of Sushi! Starting, winning and ending screen!

Once upon a time, cat, turtle and panda are happily lived in a forest. They eat nuts for fun. And one day, they captured by the evil Sushi chef. From that on, they live in the shadow of being made into sushi! The guest need to use their eyes to control the lovely friends avoid falling to the knives. If you turn away, they might got eaten!

[ CAVE + Makey Makey ] Marley the Plane

Team Role: 2D&3D Artist

Creating Assets: Terrains, Skyboxes, Maps, Airplanes, Airport, Storyboards

The irresponsible drunk captain can't drive the plane. Our two guests must help each other reading different diagrams and go through the storms by the help of the unreliable captain and the vague instructions from the radio! We made the control panels to stimulate the airplane cockpit environment. Using the cave platform to make the guests have virtual driving experiences.
